Each One Teach One:
PostCards
Each One Teach One: Postcards is a collective of 100 unique postcards relating to breaking. Photos taken for Redbull BC One Philadelphia Cypher as my breaking subjects. I incorporated the four elements of breaking: Top Rock, Footwork, Power and Freeze. Each element was given a color that best represented its style. Toprock was given a blue tone for flow like water, Footwork was given a green tone for ground work like earth, Power was given red for a impactful explosion, and freeze was given a cool grey tone to resemble ice. Below each card is a fine print text of a description of each element. The boxing was given a classic Hip-Hop layout with a tagging vibe, so I hand graffiti the phrase Each One Teach One throughout the cover.
Inspiration
My inspiration for these posters was based on the style of graphic designer Paula Scher. Each poster was given their own color and suited design, photographs were taken by me.
Poster Series
Six poster series of All Three Judges, Two DJ’s and One Master of Ceremony
Back when media was not a thing, posters were a way for people to advertise their events. This was also a culture where Attendees would collect these posters as a memory. Having a poster series is a tribute to those times and gives it a collector aspect.
Media Advertisement
Along with advertising the event, I’ve created a visual for the competition. The video showcases all the information of the event while showing footage of the judges breaking. Each subject are close friends of mine from my breaking crew “Retro Flow” and “Cypher Syndicate”.
